When Love Roars

The day may come when patience
will no longer remain patient.
When the calm may finally roar,
and the softness may lose its cool.

The gentle voice may grow louder.
The one who has always chosen silence
may finally speak.
The one who has endured, overlooked,
and made room again and again
may reach the point where they can no longer pretend
that nothing hurts.

But do not be too quick to assume
that love has disappeared.

It is not always because love no longer exists.
Love may still remain.
Love may still take root
even beneath the weight of disappointment,
exhaustion, and wounds left unattended.

Yet love is not always expressed softly.

Sometimes love speaks loudly.
Sometimes love confronts.
Sometimes love cries out
because silence has carried too much for too long.

The calm may roar,
not because it has forgotten how to be calm,
but because even calm has its limits.

The soft may become firm,
not because softness was a lie,
but because gentleness should never be mistaken
for the absence of pain.

And when that day comes,
perhaps what is needed is not the question,
“Why have you changed?”

But rather,
“What have you carried silently for so long?”
