Revive us
Throwing their lives away—
To where nothing makes sense,
Where life is no longer valued,
Not even by themselves.
Throwing their bread away—
To where nothing returns,
Wasting their daily provision
On meaningless indulgence.
“So what?” they answer back
When asked, “Why live this way?”
Throwing themselves into nothing—
Into drunkenness and fleeting pleasure.
It hurts—so deeply it hurts—
When your own people, your peers,
Ignore the Giver’s will,
And keep throwing their lives away.
Oh Lord, I lift my people to You!
Hear my cry and heal us!
Forgive our transgressions,
And revive us in Your will.
